In 2021, around 57 percent of small-to-medium-sized corporations in Japan implemented measures to improve circumstances for their female employees to make it easier to undergo gynecological examinations. Close to 14 percent of small to medium incorporated enterprises were not enforcing any measures to improve the health management of female employees.

In 2015, the Japanese government began the recognition of incorporated enterprises that strongly engage in maintaining the state of health of employees and improving working conditions. To be certified as an enterprise actively engaging in health and productivity management, 9,404 small‐to‐medium‐sized corporations answered a survey conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
