The number of food and beverage retail stores in the United States in 2021 amounted to about 154 thousand. Of those, around 36 thousand were beer, wine, and liquor stores. In 2021 there were just over 21 thousand stores with less than five employees, while stores with more than 500 employees numbered 2,343.
