The total amount of official development assistance (ODA) allocated from Denmark was roughly the same in 2000 as in 2021. However, whereas the total amount given to humanitarian aid was zero in 2000, it had increased to 353 million U.S. dollars in 2021, making it the second largest recipient sector of Danish development aid. The largest amount, over 900 million U.S. dollars, went to social infrastructure such as education and healthcare.
