A study published by UNESCO in February 2022 analyzed the origin of artists represented at 13 art biennales worldwide. Between 2012 and 2017, artists from developing countries accounted for 45 percent of all artists represented at the selected events. This share rose to 49 percent when considering the biennales held between 2018 and 2020.
