In the state Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the population in 2021 was composed by 47.4 percent of people who identified themselves as white and 51.7 percent as black, which also included Pardo Brazilian individuals. However, white civilians who were killed due to police intervention reached nearly 13 percent that year, while black victims made up for the other 87 percent. Moreover, the share of people of black ethnicity killed by the police in the state's capital reached nearly 90 percent in 2020.
