Germany's power sector emissions decreased by almost 20 percent in 2023, to 193.4 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). That same year, Germany's power sector carbon intensity was estimated at 385 grams of CO₂ per kilowatt-hour. Overall, Germany's power sector emissions have reduced by more than 40 percent since 2000.
