Since the beginning of the century, the carbon intensity of Latvia's power sector has oscillated between 123 and 223 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour (gCO₂/KWh) of electricity generated. In 2023, Latvia's power sector carbon intensity stood below 124 gCO₂/KWh. This figure represented a decrease of roughly 44 percent when compared to the century-peak recorded in 2019.
