In Iceland, as well as in the rest of Europe, the annual growth of the monthly consumer price index (CPI) was at a high level through 2022. Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine have seen increasing inflation throughout the world. In August 2024, the CPI in Iceland increased by six percent compared to the same month in 2023.
