South Africa led the beef production in Africa as of 2020. The country produced over one million metric tons of cattle meat that year. Tanzania and Chad followed, with a production volume of 487 thousand and 473 thousand metric tons of meat, respectively. Ethiopia, which had the largest cattle stock in Africa, registered an output of 433 thousand metric tons of beef and veal meat.
