About 31 percent of civilians killed by the police in São Paulo, Brazil in 2021 were from white ethnicity, while the share of black people among the total of deaths during police interventions was more than double. In the state of São Paulo black population made up for 34.8 percent of the total, which reveals a huge discrepancy between the share of black population and the share of black victims of police interventions.
