The leading live commerce service in Japan was YouTube as revealed in a survey conducted in January 2022. Almost 43 percent of respondents were using the online video sharing platform regularly, making YouTube the most popular live commerce service with a huge lead to the second-placed Instagram.
To increase interactions between streamers and audience, YouTube announced an integrated shopping function for its platform in 2021, allowing users to directly purchase a promoted item without stopping the live stream.
