According to a survey conducted in May 2021, more than one half of Russians had a positive attitude towards the reciprocal sanctions on food imports to Russia from the United States and the European Union. The figure started to decrease gradually from 2014, when it amounted to over 80 percent.

The survey was conducted in no fewer than 80 regions, 500 cities and urban-type settlements, and 100 villages.
The original survey question was worded as follows: "В настоящее время в России действуют ограничения на ввоз в страну сельхозпродукции, сырья и продовольствия из стран, которые ввели санкции в отношении нашей страны, прежде всего это США и ЕС. Вы лично одобряете или не одобряете эти ограничения на ввоз продовольствияв Россию? "
Percentage points do not add up to 100 percent as the share of respondents who chose "difficult to say" option, was excluded.
