The leading action influencing the purchase decisions of Japanese consumers in online shopping is looking at review sites and bulletin boards as revealed in a survey conducted in September 2021. While more than 32 percent of respondents would look at review sites before making purchases online, the conversation with a number of people on social networking services (SNS) was a step in the decision-making process of only 0.6 percent of respondents.
