Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the construction industry had high number of insolvencies in Iceland. In 2020 and 2022 it was the industry with the highest number of insolvencies overall. As a result of economic recovery of Iceland the overall number of insolvencies across industries decreased heavily in 2022.
