The leading action influencing the purchase decisions of Japanese consumers in in-store retailing is talking to the sales staff at the point-of-sales as revealed in a survey conducted in September 2021. While the discussions with sales clerks influenced the purchase behavior of 27 percent of respondents, only 2.4 percent considered a conversation with a broad audience on social networking services (SNS) a step in their decision making process.
