Livestock population in Africa 2022
Chickens led the livestock population in Africa, amounting to roughly 2.4 billion heads in 2022. Goats and sheep followed as major livestock species in the continent, each with an approximate stock of 506 million and 419 million heads, respectively. That same year, Africa counted some 382 million heads of cattle.
