Preferred metaverse ownership according to U.S. gamers 2021
A November 2021 survey of gamers in the United States found that 47 percent of respondents would prefer a global open-source version of the metaverse, which operated similar to the internet in terms of accessibility for all. However, 41 percent of respondents stated that they favored individually owned metaverses, which were created and owned by different tech companies such as Microsoft or Meta (Facebook).
