The financials sector accounted for 26 percent of the value of venture capital (VC) deals that were closed in Africa between 2014 and 2020. In addition, the highest number of VC deals were also within this sector. Other sectors attracting significant startup investments on the continent were consumer discretionary, industrials, and utilities.
