As of 2020, sugar cane production corresponded to roughly one-third of Kenya's total primary crops output. Maize, a staple food in the country, followed as the second major crop, accounting for nearly 15 percent of the total. Tea and coffee, mainly produced for exports, had a share of 2.3 percent.
