In the fiscal year 2021, there were 1,348 satellite offices set up with the involvement of local governments in Japan. Around 505 offices were newly opened that year.
The establishment of satellite offices in rural areas has been promoted as a regional revitalization measure guided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
