At the Olympic Games, frequent drug testing is carried out and positive doping results result in sanctions, often including the loss of Olympic medals by athletes who are found to have violated anti-doping rules. As of 2020, there have been a total of 21 bronze Olympic weightlifting medals lost due to doping violations, and 14 gold Olympic weightlifting medals lost.
