In 2020, the nascent entrepreneurship rate in Angola stood at 27.3 percent, the highest rate among the surveyed African countries. The rate refers to the share of people aged 18 to 64 years who are currently nascent entrepreneurs. The second-highest rate on the African continent was registered in Togo, where 21.7 percent of the adult population was in the process of establishing their own business.

The source defines the nascent entrepreneurship rate as the "percentage of adults aged 18–64 who are currently nascent entrepreneurs, i.e. are actively involved in setting up a business they will own or co-own; this business has not yet paid salaries, wages or made any other payments to the owners for more than three months".
