The majority of Japanese consumers were aware of game meat as a food product as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2020. While over 56 percent of respondents knew about game meat to various degrees, only the minority knew about it in detail.
The game meat segment in Japan includes mainly deer and wild boars, with bears and badgers being served as local specialties.
