As of 2023, Mexico has issued green, social, and sustainable (GSS) bonds amounting to a total of approximately 39 billion U.S. dollars. From this, the lowest value of bonds issued in the country were green bonds, amounting to 4.2 billion U.S. dollars. Even so, the Mexican sustainability bond market had shown considerable growth,with nearly 30 billion U.S. dollars worth of bonds issued. Green, social and sustainable (GSS) bonds are fixed-income instruments which finance projects that have a positive impact on environmental, social sustainability.
