The majority of Japanese consumers eat grilled meat (yakiniku) at least once per year at home as revealed in a survey conducted in August 2021. Only around 27 percent of respondents stated that they almost never eat the meat dish at home.
Yakiniku is commonly prepared by cooking thin slices of meat on charcoal or gas grills and resembles western barbecue in preparation.
