In the sports season of 2019/20, over 36 thousand athletes were actively engaged in soccer. This count was the highest, compared to the other team sports. The second most common sport among Israeli athletes was basketball, with more than 30 thousand active players. In contrast, only 234 athletes actively played cricket, which was the team sport with the lowest number of registered athletes that year.
