Share of cities within 10 kilometers of fiber-optic network in Africa 2019, by region
Nearly 70 percent of big cities and 35 percent of intermediary cities in Africa were within 10 kilometers of a terrestrial fiber-optic network in 2019. Specifically, around 80 percent of big cities in East and Southern Africa, each, were within the 10-kilometer connectivity reach. Additionally, for both regions, 51 percent and 71 percent of intermediary cities, respectively, were situated within 10 kilometers of the fiber-optic network.
