In fiscal year 2022, nearly 1.7 thousand tons of soy milk imported to Japan were certified organic, representing a decrease from approximately 2.3 thousand tons in the previous fiscal year.
Foods distributed as organic in Japan have to be certified under the Organic Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) system or a comparable system in the case of imported products. The certification is done by auditors accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
