The adoption of mobile banking in the United States increased consistently between December 2020 and May 2021. Distinguishing by generation, younger individuals displayed larger penetration rates than older. As of May 2021, 95 percent of targeted customers born after 1995 (Gen Z) used mobile banking. On the other hand, roughly one-quarter of senior individuals (born before 1946) used mobile banking.

Gen Z: born in 1996 or later.
Millennials: born between 1981 and 1995.
Gen X: born between 1966 and 1980.
Baby boomers: born between 1946 and 1965.
Senior: born in 1945 or earlier.
