Household out-of-pocket health spending in Honduras 2010-2021
In 2021, household out-of-pocket health expenditure in Honduras reached around 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, the highest value observed during the period. These figures showed an overall uptrend since the beginning of the decade, increasing by about 25 percent compared to 2020, when households spent more than one billion U.S. dollars on health care in the Central American country. The neighboring country El Salvador recorded an out-of-pocket health spending of approximately 798 million U.S. dollars as of 2020.
