The leading reason against the purchase of agricultural produces from organic and special cultivations in Japan was the high price compared to general produces as revealed in a survey conducted in July 2021. While more than 45 percent of respondents found fault in the high prices for foods from special cultivations, only around two percent named the inconsistent size and shape a reason against the purchase.
Special cultivations refers to farming methods with a limited use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

*Out of 2,000 respondents participating in the survey, 69.9 percent who stated that they have not purchased much or have never purchased agricultural produces from organic or special cultivations were surveyed for this question.
