The majority of consumers in Japan did not know about the meaning of the "Organic JAS" logo as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2022. While 22 percent of respondents stated that they knew the label but not the meaning of the organic food label, around 65 percent did not know what the logo signified.
The "Organic JAS" logo is used to label food products that comply with the requirements for organic food in addition to the Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) as stipulated by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
