Only around one in three consumers in Japan had bought food products that were organic or produced with special cultivation methods as revealed in a survey conducted in July 2021. While close to four percent of respondents have purchased food from special cultivations, over 46 percent voiced their interest in such products.
Specially cultivated produce refers to food grown with limited use of pesticides, chemicals, and chemical fertilizers.
