The Indian market of hatchback vehicles was dominated by three major car manufacturers, namely, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata. In 2021, Maruti Suzuki accounted for 67 percent of the total hatchback sales in India, making it the leader of the segment. The share of hatchbacks in overall passenger vehicle sales during the presented period was on a decline in general. In 2021, over 3.1 million passenger vehicles were sold across the country. Small-sized cars accounted for the majority of all passenger vehicles in terms of sales.
