Towards the end of the year 2021, the cumulative GST revenue collection in India equaled 1.3 trillion Indian rupees. This was a reduction from the revenue collected in April 2021 when it had peaked to 1.41 trillion Indian rupees. The goods and services tax was introduced as a singular nation-wide tax that replaced several indirect taxes in India, such as the Value Added Tax, service tax, excise tax, and certain state and central taxes.
