Household out-of-pocket health spending in Ecuador 2010-2021
In 2021, household out-of-pocket health expenditure in Ecuador amounted to around 2.69 billion U.S. dollars, one of the highest values recorded within the analyzed decade. The figure showed an overall increasing trend compared to the beginning of the period, when households allocated approximately two billion U.S. dollars to healthcare. During the last year depicted, current health expenditure equaled an estimated eight percent of Ecuador's GDP.
