Financial burden of stranded assets is among the greatest challenges to the energy transition according to a global survey conducted in September 2022. Some 68 percent of respondents who were investors and 32 percent of the respondents who were executives from the energy sector reported financial burden of stranded assets as the main challenge to switching from a majority fossil fuel-sourced energy procurement to a renewables-focused sector. The survey base consisted of 137 decision makers from the energy sector, including oil, gas, renewables, utilities, mining and minerals.
