Production volume of certified organic cow's milk in Japan FY 2015-2022
In fiscal year 2022, approximately 1.47 thousand tons of cow's milk produced in Japan were certified organic, representing an increase from nearly 835 tons in the previous fiscal year.
Agricultural produces distributed as organic foods in Japan have to be certified under the Organic Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) system or a comparable system in the case of imported products. The certification is done by auditors accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
