In fiscal year 2022, approximately 1,233 tons of vinegar produced in Japan were certified organic, representing a decrease from approximately 1.36 thousand tons in the previous fiscal year.
Agricultural produces distributed as organic foods in Japan have to be certified under the Organic Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) system or a comparable system in the case of imported products. The certification is done by auditors accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
