Between December 24 and 26, 2021, the mobile app supporting Meta's VR headset devices Oculus registered more than 644.5 thousand installs from new users worldwide. This represents an increase of around 153 percent from the previous year, and a staggering 540 percent increase from new installs registered during the holiday period in 2019, the year in which the Oculus Quest VR set was launched. New installs of the Oculus mobile app, which is compatible with earlier Oculus Quest headset version, are likely to have registered a spike during the holidays due to the Oculus Quest 2 popularity as a Christmas present. During the first quarter of 2021, Oculus Quest 2 headsets have registered around 850 thousand unit sales worldwide.
