Per every 1,000 live births in Ghana as of 2019, 58 identified themselves as living with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This meant that these people were aware of their HIV status. The rate has ranged between 47 and 58 since 2015. Overall in Ghana, around 350 thousand inhabitants were living with HIV as of 2020. HIV is an infection that attacks the immune system of the body, specifically the white blood cells.
