Between the first quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021, mobile app downloads in New Zealand were distributed almost evenly between apps available on the Google Play Store and Apple iOS apps. During the second quarter of 2021, iOS app downloads made up 52 percent of the total number of downloads in the country, while apps downloaded using Google Play made up 48 percent of the total. In the second quarter of 2021, mobile apps in New Zealand generated more than 53 million downloads across Apple iOS and Google Play combined.
