According to a survey conducted in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau, the majority of consumers had downloaded mobile banking apps on their phones. Hong Kong was the region with the highest adoption rate of mobile banking, about 82 percent of respondents had installed banking apps. In Macau, non-bank financial service providers from mainland China are also very popular and compete with traditional banks.
