Number of reported cases of tetanus in Africa 2002-2020
In 2020, over 7.7 thousand cases of tetanus were reported in Africa. In the preceding year, a relatively lower value of 3,606 cases was registered. Within the given period, the peak of infections was observed in 2002, at nearly 10.9 thousand. Tetanus is an infectious disease caused by spores of the Clostridium tetani bacterium and is most prevalent among babies and pregnant women.
