Number of reported cases of diphtheria in Ghana 1980-2020
As of 2020, there were no cases of diphtheria in Ghana. Although this infectious disease resurfaced in the country in 2010, it was generally absent after 1985, when one case had been reported. In 2020, 66 percent of the children in Ghana received the tetanus-diphtheria vaccine. Diphtheria is a disease caused by the Corynebacterium diphtheria bacterium, infecting the throat and upper airways.
