During the second quarter of 2021, mobile gaming apps amassed approximately 41.5 million downloads from users in New Zealand. Due to the global outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, between the first quarter and the second quarter of 2020, all examined mobile app categories registered a spike in downloads. As of the second quarter 2021, social apps reported a decrease in downloads of 30 percent year over year, while finance apps have experienced a constant growth trend throughout all the examined quarters.
