In 2021, the volume of retail real estate investment in Italy declined for a third year in a row. High street retail investment comprised the highest share of total investments in that year, while in 2020, investment activity concentrated in the supermarkets subsector. In the first nine months of 2021, Italian retail real estate investment amounted to 290 million euros, which was about one-fifth of the total investment in 2020.
