As of February 2020, 66 percent of adults in the United Kingdom felt that there should be more regulation of social media sites, with women being more likely to approve of this than men. Overall, 52 percent of men said that they think instant messenger services should have more regulation, compared with 60 percent of women who thought the same. Only 36 percent of male and 42 percent of female respondents agreed that subscription video on demand services should have more regulations in place.
