A survey conducted in October 2020 in Ireland asked children about their exposure to harmful online content. Overall, 26 percent of children said that they had encountered one or more types of dangerous content and 20 percent said that they had seen hate messages attacking certain groups or individuals. Furthermore, eleven percent of respondents stated that they had seen content that presented ways to be very thin, such as anorexia or bulimia, and nine percent had come across ways of dying by suicide.
