Share of people who have a social media account in Czechia 2015-2023

The popularity of social media in Czechia is continuously growing. In 2023, nearly 62 percent of people in Czechia had a social media account. The number of users worldwide quickly rose to 4.59 billion people in 2022, constituting over 56 percent of all internet users. For most of them, social media is an effective way to communicate with relatives, friends, and colleagues. In recent years, more and more companies and brands are using social media platforms to promote their products and keep in touch with their customers.

Czechs on internet

Czechs are no exception in terms of the use of internet and social media. In 2022, over 83 percent of households in Czechia had internet access, with women and younger people being more on social media platforms. In addition to surfing social networks, Czechs use the internet for many other purposes, such as sending and receiving e-mails, reading online news sites, as well as online banking.

Facebook’s dominance?

With a 68.95 percent market share in August 2023, Facebook dominates social media in Czechia over other social media. However, in terms of the number of users, Facebook is on a par with YouTube. Internet users aged 25-34 used Facebook more than those between 18 and 24 years. Younger users preferred Instagram and other social media platforms.
